    The Planning Department promotes the City's strategic growth and development by utilizing comprehensive planning and zoning in the community. The department collaborates with the City's Planning Commission and reviews land use applications for actions such as zoning changes, conditional use permits, business and residential developments, etc. The Department assists both government agencies and the public by providing policy analysis and technical assistance relating to housing, transportation, demography and general land use.

    The Holtville Planning Commission is appointed by the Holtville City Council and meets every third Monday of the month at the Holtville City Hall located at 121 W. Fifth Street.

    CITY OF HOLTVILLE
    PLANNING COMMISSION VACANCY
    Planning Commission Application

    On September 11, 2017 the City Council accepted the resignation of a Planning Commission Member creating one vacancy on the Planning Commission. The term of this vacancy is an unexpired term which will end in April 21, 2018. The Planning Commission is comprised of five members and serves at the pleasure of the City Council. The vacancy will be appointed by the City Council.

    Planning Commissioners will be expected to make potentially significant time commitments to both learning the job of Planning Commissioner, as well as regular attendance at Planning Commission meetings. Regular Planning Commission meetings are held on the third Monday of each month, starting at 6:00 p.m. There are also special meetings and  workshops that could be called as well.
    Qualifications for Planning Commissioners are:

    1. Must be a registered voter at their current address;
    2. Must reside within the City limits of Holtville;
    3. May not be an employee or officer of the City of Holtville.

    If you are interested in applying for the position of Planning Commissioner, please complete the application and supplemental questionnaire which can be picked up at City Hall, 121 West Fifth Street, Holtville or from the City's website at www.holtville.ca.gov.

    All applications must be returned to the City Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 12, 2017.

    Holtville General Plan Update

    Holtville is a well-defined community intending to build upon its traditional neighborhood patterns and assets. It is a community with a high-quality of life in which residents feel safe living and working. The safe atmosphere is maintained through an environment where community members know and regularly interact with their neighbors.

    The direction established by the General Plan represents a combination of community values and actions designed to achieve the vision for the future allowing the City to take advantage of opportunities to achieve its goals. The policies and plans in the Elements and the Implementation Program provide guidance for addressing changing conditions and specific actions to optimize community potential.

    Holtville is a small community developed around Central Park with a wide roads formed in a grid system.
