    Holtville City Council Members

    The City of Holtville was incorporated in 1908 a general law City and has a Council - City Manager form of government.

    The five Council members are elected by the Holtville voters to serve a four-year term. Each year the Mayor is elected by a majority vote of the City Council peers.

    The City Council is the governing body of the City. The City Council's responsibility is to develop public policy, approve programs, allocate revenues to meet the City's needs and adopt an annual City budget.

    The City Council also functions as the legislative body and exercises the legal powers designated to them by the State government code pertaining to general law cities.

    The Holtville City Council also serves as the Holtville Redevelopment Agency Board of Directors and as well as the Holtville Public Financing Authority's Commission.

    The City Council meets the second and fourth Monday of every month at 6:00 PM in the Holtville City Hall located at 121 W. Fifth Street, Holtville, CA 92250.

    City Council Application

    The City of Holtville is seeking applications from interested parties to fill a pending vacancy on the Holtville City Council. The position to be filled will be for the remaining unexpired term of Mayor David Bradshaw, who will be vacating his seat due to relocation, effective April 4, 2019. The term of this vacancy is the remainder of his elected term, which will expire on or before December 31, 2020. The vacancy will be appointed by the City Council.

    City Council members are expected to make potentially significant time commitments to both learning the job of a Councilperson, as well as attendance to City Council meetings, held regularly at 5:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Special meetings, workshops and public events may require additional time as well.

    Qualifications for City Council members are:

    1. Must be a registered voter at their current address;
    2. Must reside within the City limits of Holtville;
    3. May not be an employee or officer of the City of Holtville.
